I paint because I love to. I always have, as far back as I can remember: a kid growing up in Newcastle.

I find the simple act of painting therapeutic. Concentration comes easily, with hours passing in what seems like minutes.  Art can take you into your own world in so many ways.  Even if the end result is not how intended, it remains a worthwhile experience. It’s great if you do get the right result, but it’s not essential.

I’ve become captivated by the Cornish landscape and seascape since moving here 10 years ago to study Fine Art at Falmouth. For me the two are intrinsic to Cornwall’s history and sense of identity. Scratch the surface and there is a complexity of relationships to explore.

Constant changing light brings a different feel each time I return to my regular stomping grounds. Long walks with my dog Fergus feed my inspiration.

I hope the paintings resonate with you. Should my work achieve this, then it can only serve to strengthen my enjoyment producing it.
